Renowned Chinese visual artist, Professor and Researcher of Design at the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University. Member of the ChinaArtists Association, Deputy Director of the Art Industry Research Committee of the China Literary and Art Critics Association, and a member of the NationalArts Fund Review Committee.

Graduated from the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts (now Tsinghua University), where he has taught since 1992. Yao’s artistic practice bridges traditional Chinese ink philosophy with the visual language of contemporary art.

His works have been exhibited internationally, including at the VeniceBiennale, the Kremlin in Russia, and major exhibitions across the U.S., Japan, France, and Switzerland. Yao has received numerous international honors such as the Florence Contemporary Art Award, the Leonardo da Vinci Art Prize, theGolden Feather Award of Asian Art (Japan), and the Salon Art Prize (Paris). His works are in the collection of the Carl Milles Museum in Sweden.

毕业于中央工艺美术学院（现清华大学美术学院），并留校任教至今。其艺术实践跨越设计与当代艺术领域，融合传统笔墨精神与国际视觉语言的探索。

作品多次参加威尼斯双年展、俄罗斯克里姆林宫展、美、日、法、瑞士等国重要国际展览。荣获意大利佛罗伦萨当代艺术展绘画大奖、达·芬奇艺术奖、日本亚洲艺术金羽奖及巴黎艺术沙龙奖等多项国际荣誉。其作品被瑞典卡尔·米勒斯艺术馆等机构收藏。
