Based on Katsushika Hokusai’s iconic The Great Wave off Kanagawa, this work reinterprets the surge through the Stonecube language, breaking the ukiyoe motion into rhythmic energetic units. The narrative scene of the original dissolves into a field of consciousness, allowing the classic image to manifest anew within a state of “no-time awareness.” Created at the invitation of the Metaverse Expo at Expo 2025 Osaka, Stone Chun Shi’s work reconfigures Hokusai’s The Great Wave off Kanagawa through the artist’s Stonecubes visual language, proposing a non-digital yet metaverse-compatible visual grammar grounded in unit-based structure and notime consciousness.
