This ceramic incense burner, meticulously crafted in 1972, takes as its theme Japan's renowned "Thirty-Six Immortals of Poetry." These thirty-six poets were highly revered in the classical era, their works compiled and passed down by Fujiwara no Kintō (966-1041) in the early 11th century. Active from the 7th century up to Kintō's time, they exerted a profound influence on Japanese literary tradition. The burner features a bright gold ground, with the image of each poet meticulously depicted, forming an elegant pictorial环绕。 Beside the images are inscribed classic poems selected by Fujiwara no Kintō, vividly recreating the poets' elegance, showcasing their unique qualities, and restoring the refined cultural atmosphere of that era. Shimazaki Pottery's meticulous attention to detail, skillful use of color, and incorporation of splendid gold decoration fully demonstrate deep respect for Japanese literary tradition and the essence of its art.
