Revered as the faith of half of Asia, Guanyin (Avalokitesvara) stands as one of the most significant subjects within the Dazu Rock Carvings. The site houses over 400 Guanyin images, including the Thousand-Armed Guanyin, the Rosary-Holding Guanyin, and the Water-Moon Guanyin. The Song Dynasty represents the period when Guanyin imagery in Dazu reached its apex in both thematic diversity and artistic refinement, vividly reflecting the popular Song saying: "Every home an Amitabha, every household a Guanyin."
