The original sculpture is located in the Baodingshan Grottoes, Dazu, and was carved during the Southern Song Dynasty, between the Chunxi and Chunyou eras (1174–1252 CE). The maiden wears her hair in long braids, with eyes gently closed and slender fingers gracefully holding a curved flute across her hands. Her expression is serene and deeply focused.
